The delegation of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, who went to Germany to examine the tram systems that have been successfully operated for more than a hundred years, also made contacts in Berlin after Bremen. Mayor Kocaoğlu, who received a briefing at BVG, which operates the city's public transportation systems, laid the Berlin model on the table and visited Senator Müller and made a comprehensive discussion on the same issue.

Mayor Kocaoğlu, who stated that they want to benefit from the experiences of Berlin, which has been a tradition of electric tram for more than a hundred years before the tram system they will establish in İzmir, said, “We want to switch from the rail system to the rail system in public transportation. In doing so, we try to get to know new technologies closely. For example, we closely examine the bottom-fed system instead of the catheter. However, this system has not yet been implemented even in the most developed cities of Europe. We also closely monitor the developments in the electric bus system. ”

Michael Müller, Senator for the Environmental and Urban Development of the Province of Berlin, said that they give priority to public transportation, and that the important groups that produce transportation systems are in Berlin.

Reminding that there is a 1910-kilometer tram line in Berlin, which converted the horse trams into an electrical system in 190, Müller said, “As soon as we saw the reduction in road traffic, we started working on the integration of public transportation systems and bicycles. There are things that have not yet been replaced in the electric bus system. In this process, we put a special filter on all of our buses to reduce the air pollution in diesel to zero. ”

During his contacts in Berlin, President Aziz Kocaoğlu also visited the headquarters of BVG, which operates public transportation systems in the city, where the operation and structure of tram systems, the most common problems and solutions during the operating system, the location of tram lines on narrow roads with areas where traffic is dense, and other tram lines. He received information on issues such as integration with transportation systems. Izmir Metropolitan Mayor and accompanying Izmir delegation also made a city tour with '2010 design award-winning' tram run by BVG.

At the end of the Berlin contacts, Turkey's Consul General Mustafa Pulat Consul and Counselor Carol Smith, who visited Mayor Kocaoglu, celebrated Pulat, which will go to the newly appointed ambassador to Nigeria at the end of October.

Stating that he was delighted with the visit of President Kocaoğlu, Berlin Consul General Mustafa Bulut said, “There are Turkish schools that are very successful in vocational education. We can bring rooted schools in Izmir with them. In addition, we will do our best to make certain districts of Izmir and some districts of Berlin become 'sister districts'. Such initiatives can also play an active role in the fight against racism. ”
