Gulf Cooperation Council takes Qatar ahead in railway projects

It was reported that Qatar ranks first with a $ 41,8 billion project in the railway projects planned to be carried out in the Gulf Cooperation Council, which consists of six member countries.
According to the report prepared by Dubai-based news and research company Zawya before the construction fair BIG 5, the value of all planned or ongoing railway projects in the Gulf countries for the next 10 year is worth $ 149.
Qatar, which is preparing to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, stands out with different projects it wishes to complete until this time. In the natural gas-rich country, a national railway network will be established in addition to the urban rail system, and then this system will be connected to the Gulf railway network, which will facilitate the movement of products and passengers between all countries in the region.
According to government officials, railway projects will create extensive jobs for their citizens, contribute to social and economic integration and accelerate the transition to the common market.
According to a report published last year, the length of the main railway lines planned in the Middle East and North African countries exceeds 30 thousand km, and the length of the metro, tram and monorail systems exceeds 3 thousand km. The value of investment in these projects is expected to reach 250 billion dollars.
