Green light from DPT for Üçkuyular-Halkapınar tram project

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu announced that the State Planning Organization (DPT) gave the green light for the Üçkuyular-Halkapınar tram project, which will reduce the traffic density in the city center.
Aziz Kocaoğlu said that the approval they expected from DPT on Üçkuyular-Halkapınar tram, whose application project is ready, will be realized soon. Stating that there are some reservations and criticisms in the Üçkuyular-Halkapınar line in the tram project, Kocaoğlu said, “It should be cooked in public. The tram is easy to manufacture. However, we take into account objections regarding the route. For example, the line is requested to pass through Mithatpaşa Street instead of Mustafa Kemal Sahil Boulevard. Time is needed to decide on these issues. The tram line does not cut the highway in too many places. A total of 13 kilometers of tram line does not cause any problems in the city center. Most of it goes outside the existing roads. There is no line guard tape. Because it will go at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour, ”he said. Stating that the line will go from where there are mulberry trees in the middle of the road in Şair Eşref Boulevard, Kocaoğlu stated that they will remove these trees.
Aziz Kocaoğlu said that TCDD, which is a partner in suburban line operator İZBAN, will bring new trucks from Istanbul to İzmir. Stating that the only institution that can increase the number of İZBAN passengers is Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Kocaoğlu said, “Let the drawers come, we can direct passengers to the suburban line with the new arrangements we will make in the bus lines.
