The Torino Metro (Italian: Metropolitana di Torino) is a high-speed rail transport system operating in the city center of Turin and Collegno, Italy. It is operated by Gruppo Trasporti Torinesi, a company managed by the city of Turin. The metro network was opened on February 4, 2006, before the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics. Metro ticket costs 1 Euro. It works from 5.30 to 23.50 on weekdays. It works between 5.30-01.30 on Saturdays and 8.00-22.20 on Sundays. Turin metro is also Italy's first fully automatic, driverless subway. Line extension work is underway to the Lingotto region, south of the city of Turin.
