Binali Yildirim: 3. The most basic difference of the bridge is the slant hangers!

Binali Yıldırım, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, shared the first draft project of the third bridge to be built on the Bosphorus, which Istanbul residents are eagerly waiting for.
Speaking to Olcay Aydilek from Habertürk Newspaper, Yıldırım stated that the architect of the third bridge, which will be remembered with some "firsts" in the world, is also French. Minister Yıldırım stated that İçtaş-Astaldi partnership "approved" the third bridge tender, where it gave the best offer with 10 years 2 months 20 days of operation and construction time, and said that they will invite the contractor İçtaş-Astaldi partnership to sign the contract as soon as possible. Minister Yıldırım stated that the concept design of the bridge was French Michel Virlogeux and that they will start erecting the bridge's legs within six months.
THE LARGEST DIFFERENT HANGERS
Yıldırım stated that the third bridge will be "suspended" just like the other two bridges on the Bosphorus. "This is the suspension; but the vine shape is different. In this sense, the main difference from the others is their slanting hangers. There are horizontal cables. They will be capable of carrying the heavy load on the bridge ”. Noting that the suspension bridge will also be remembered with some 'firsts', Minister Yıldırım said, "The third bridge will be the longest suspension bridge in the world with a rail system on it." The rails will be laid later on the 8rd bridge, which will consist of 2 lanes including 10 highways and 3 rail systems.
'YET EARLY FOR THE NAME'
It is too early to say its name, and the Minister Yıldırım asked the question about the name to be given to the third bridge, “Especially let the construction of a bridge begin and reach a certain stage. A name is given after that. It's too early now ”. The third bridge, estimated at a cost of 4.5 billion TL, is aimed to be put into service at the end of 2015. İçtaş İnşaat- Astaldi Joint Venture Group has to complete the project in 36 months as per the tender contract.
