The project of connecting Sakarya to Izmit by rail was implemented

Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Binali Yıldırım, said that they implemented the project of connecting Sakarya to Izmit with the Arifiye-Karasu railway line planned by the Ottoman State in the 1830s.
Minister Yıldırım, who came to Sakarya for information about the railway works, made investigations at the construction site of the Arifiye-Karasu railway line in Ferizli district. Yıldırım received information from the authorities about the project. ”Our railway is 55 kilometers long and has a double track. It is a very important line that includes the connection of 3 OIZs on the route. Where does its importance come from? Black Sakarya, tying the largest producing basins of Turkey such as Istanbul and Izmit. In other words, products produced in this basin will be shipped over the Black Sea. ” said.
Meanwhile, Binali Yıldırım, who stated that they had realized the project of connecting the Ottoman Sakarya to Izmit, which was planned by the Ottoman in the 1830s, by rail, said that the AK Party government focused on railway works. Yıldırım gave the following information:
“After Karasu, we plan this railway from the coast to the East, to Bartın in the future. We received comprehensive information about the studies. Currently 500 people work on the road route. The region's agricultural land and its alluvial structure both make our work difficult and increase the cost. A very serious action is being taken to strengthen the ground. The infrastructure is strengthened by making piles according to its place, 'jet ground' and sometimes stone filling according to its location. The project is going as planned. Progress in infrastructure is currently at the level of 22 percent. The project is good for our Sakarya and our country. '
