Salih Kumbar, Director of Land Transportation Branch of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department, stated that there has been an increase of 31-20 percent in the highway lines due to the stopping of trains between Adapazarı and Gebze as of 30 January as part of the High Speed Train (YHT) Project.
Kumbar told AA correspondent that in the counting they made due to YHT studies, they found that 3 thousand 700 passengers went to Istanbul and 3 thousand 900 passengers came to the city.
31 As of January, the train service between Adapazari and Gebze stopped the trainers expressing that they talked to the cooperatives with mass transportation, Kumbar, said they wanted to be prepared for demand due to stopping flights.
Kumbar reminded that they put bus services to Istanbul as a municipality and that buses were arranged for buses and trains, and said:
“In the beginning, the number of flights was 11-12. Although the number of our passengers is decreasing, we serve with 9 buses per day. Around 200 thousand and 500 thousand passengers use our buses daily. There was a 20-30 percent passenger increase on the highway lines, but our citizens who traveled by train more easily found a remedy for themselves. Passengers both moved their homes and took advantage of shuttle services. Initially, the passenger growth of 20-30 percent dropped to 10-15 percent later. ”
YHT project will be built in the city of Istanbul and Turkey Kumba station with passengers emphasizing to find quick access to every point, drew attention the fact that in 1,5 minutes of the 40 hour long journey to Istanbul.
Stating that those who live in Gebze can go to Istanbul much faster with the introduction of Marmaray, Kumbar added that the number of vehicles coming to traffic with YHT will decrease significantly.
