The Kocaeli crossing of the High Speed Train (YHT) Project, which will reduce the Istanbul-Ankara journey to approximately 2 hours, continues at full speed between Gebze and Izmit. On this route, where the old lines were dismantled after all voyages were stopped since February 1, in addition to the YHT and suburban line, the third line was also laid to deliver industrial products to the ports.
Due to the YHT line works, the railway between Gebze and Izmit has been silent since February 1. From time to time, on the line where freight trains with a few wagons transporting materials only for short distances, ground improvement works will be started after the old rails are removed.
The Governor explained
With the activation of the YHT line, the governor of Kocaeali, Ercan Topaca, clarified the questions about the trains that will carry suburban and industrial products. Governor Ercan Topaca said that the suburban train line is being improved with the YHT works, and also considering the need to transport Kocaeli's industrial city and industrial products to the ports, a third line has been evaluated and decided. “At the groundbreaking ceremony in Köseköy, with the initiatives of our Minister of Science, Industry and Technology, our Minister of Transport gave information about the rail connection of the 3rd line to the ports in our city regarding the third line whose infrastructure was previously created. Delivering the economic potential in our city, the goods produced or the raw materials to be used in production, to the factories will provide very serious advantages in terms of the export of our products. The value of our ports will increase. It will be easier to reach our ports in terms of the export of the production made from the organized industrial zones and in the interior of Anatolia. "
SHOULD BE A SHORT LINE
Governor Ercan Topaca, this line connected to the decision of the line, the line of traction and connection to the main line that will provide a technical infrastructure service, not the entire railroad, but in the border regions of Kocaeli region, Dilovasi and emphasized that a line will cover the coastal regions.
