Iraq had received offers from various international companies to supply 10 passenger trains. Turkey, Iran and Croatia as France's Alstom and China's Datong Electric Locomotive manufacturers Company, had been invited to tender.
The winning company has to deliver two train sets this year and the remaining 8 sets by 2013. These two new trains will run between the Gulf of Basra and Baghdad.
Alstom will supply a fully ground-fed APS power system to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and with this system to be installed on the new Eminönü-Alibeyköy (Golden Horn) line, a ten-kilometer-long line will be installed. [more…]
