Saudi Arabia Harameyn fast train starts operations in 2014

The Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) announced that the 450-kilometer Haramain high-speed train project, which will connect holy cities such as Jeddah, Mecca and Medina, will be put into service from 2014.

The project will also connect densely populated areas with the industrial zones and new economic cities to Landbridge and the north-south line. In this context, Jeddah city, Jeddah King Abdul Aziz International Airport and King Abdullah Economic City stations will be built.

The construction of the Haramain high speed train main station in Mecca is expected to cost more than $ 853.6 million. After the completion of the Harameyn high-speed train project, 150.000 passengers per day are expected to benefit from the line.
