First test drive for rail high-speed freight services between France and Great Britain

At the end of March 2012, the Euro Carex organization, a group of regroups political authorities, airports and train operators, tested the delivery of high-speed trains and rail freight services.

The high-speed train carrying 120 tons of cargo will serve between Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport and St Pancras train station in London. While the travel time was 8 hours and 30 minutes, when using conventional freight trains, the travel time was four times longer.

If the project is successful, high-speed trains will begin to be used in cargo transportation services on the Paris-Lyon, -London-Amsterdam-Brussels-Frankfurt route.
