China Wuxi Subway Line Orders 23 Vehicles to CSR Zhuzhou Company

CSR Zhuzhou company signed a contract on March 1, 6 for 23 sets with 21 cars to be used on the Wuxi 2012st metro line. Deliveries are scheduled between March 2013 and June 2014.

Type B Trainsets will have friction-stir welded aluminum alloy bodies and will meet European standards for fire protection, thermal insulation, vibration and noise reduction, according to the manufacturers. It will also have a design speed of 80 km/h, with redundant onboard systems for reliability.

In addition to the low-energy lighting system, the train set will be produced to reduce regenerative power consumption, equipped for braking and reduce the amount of brake dust. Each of these 6-vehicle sets will have a passenger capacity of 1846.

Wuxi city of Jiangsu province has a population of around 7 million. It is planned to build a total of five subway lines of 111 km with 157,8 stations in the city.
