Afyonkarahisar residents will be able to reach Ankara in 6 hours thanks to the station that will be built on an area of ​​150 decares on the 1,5th kilometer of the Afyonkarahisar-Kütahya road.
Work on the Afyonkarahisar leg of the Ankara-Antalya stage has been reported. Mustafa Babal, Head of Department of Production of State Railways, and Mustafa Tuncay, Head of Investigation Department, General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments, attended the meeting held by Afyonkarahisar Governor Irfan Balkanlıoğlu.
Governor İrfan Balkanlıoğlu said that Afyonkarahisar, which is at the intersection of highways, will also be at the intersection of air and railway transportation, the number of 5-star thermal hotels in Afyonkarahisar has increased rapidly and the 1,5 hour drop between Ankara and Afyonkarahisar will contribute to the development of thermal tourism. Governor Balkanlıoğlu noted that it is planned to be built somewhere in the Ömer-Gecek basin at the station to be built in the city center.
Mustafa Babal, Head of the State Railways Construction Department, said that they started working after the tender of the project. Expressing that the project is expected to be completed within 3 years, Babal said, “Afyonkarahisar residents will have a modern, comfortable and comfortable transportation opportunity after the project is completed. We have a 250 kilometer transportation line. This distance will be taken in 1,5 hours. We think that it will make important contributions to the economic and social development of the city. ”
Mustafa Tuncay, Head of Survey Department of the State Railways Infrastructure Investment Directorate, stated that it will be built on a 150-acre area where the Ömer-Gecek basin is located as a station. Tuncay stated that Zafer Airport is planned to be operational this year and noted that it is planned to provide transportation by making a light rail system from the airport to the city center.
President of Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO), Hüsnü Serteser, who attended the meeting, stated that alternative works can be done about the location of the station, and requested that the Ministry of Transport lay light rail systems between the bus station and the new train station.
