İZBAN is signing tomorrow for the electric train set.

In the tender for the purchase of 40 electric train sets of İZBAN, which operates suburban operations on the Aliağa-Menderes line, a contract will be signed with Hyundai Rotem, the lowest bidder.

İZBAN, which operates suburban operations on the Aliağa-Menderes line, has signed a contract with the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem, which made the lowest bid of approximately 40 million liras, in order to provide more comfortable and faster service, and will be signed on March 340. In the statement, it was reported that İZBAN, which is a suburban operator on the Aliağa-Menderes line in cooperation with TCDD and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, has reached the stage of signing in the purchase tender for 17 electric train sets opened to provide more comfortable and fast service.

In the statement, it was stated that the signing ceremony will be held at İZBAN General Directorate on March 17, with the participation of Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yıldırım, Governor of Izmir Cahit Kıraç, İzmir Büyüküşehir Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu, TCDD General Manager Süleyman Karaman:

”Hyundai Rotem, CAF and CSR Zhuzhou companies submitted bids for İZBAN's tender for 40 EMU (electric) suburban train sets. As a result of the evaluation made by the tender commission, South Korea firm Hyundai Rotem firm, which made the lowest bid as 179 million 998 thousand 812 USD (approximately 340 million lira), was entitled to make new trains of İZBAN. ”

According to the tender specifications, it is stated that 25% of the domestic sets will be used in the new sets, and the sets will be in Izmir, 20 in the 3th month, 7 in the 17th month, and 7 sets in the next 20 months, after the signing of the contract.

In the statement, with the sets of 4,5 million dollars each, İZBAN's number of sets (including the sets rented from TCDD) will increase from 43 to 83 and the daily passenger capacity of 150 thousand will increase to 300 thousand.
