BAŞKENTRAY Project will increase the daily carrying capacity between Xinjiang and Kayaş to 100 thousand passengers

TCDD General Directorate will send the project feasibility report to the State Planning Organization (DPT) by the end of this month for BAŞKENTRAY project, which aims to raise the suburban line between Sincan and Kayaş to the subway standard. After the approval of the feasibility report, the General Directorate of TCDD, which plans to go on the construction tender for BAŞKENTRAY Project in February, aims to receive financial proposals two months after the tender announcement and to start the construction works of the project until the end of the year.

The General Directorate of TCDD plans to complete the construction of the BAŞKENTRAY Project in one year and to renew all rails, platforms and stations in the 36 kilometer-long railway line between Sincan and Kayaş. During the construction period, suburban trains cannot be operated between Sincan and Kayaş.

The project will be re-constructed between Ankara-Sincan and Ankara-Kayaş between two lines and between the four lines between Ankara and Behiçbey, three lines between Behiçbey-Sincan and five lines between Ankara-Kayaş and four lines between Ankara and Kayaş. Two of the lines will be in high-speed railway transportation, while the two will serve in subway-standard suburban transport.

BAŞKENTRAY seven new electric train sets of the project planned to be used in South Korea, 25 will be produced in Turkey. tests required for the certification of construction completed and brought to Turkey was completed three train sets.

The new train sets are equipped with electronic security systems as well as special sections for disabled citizens. Smart trains can carry a total of 170 people, including 574 seats, three wheelchairs and 747 standing passengers.

The trains consisting of three wagons can be controlled from both sides. There are televizyon closed circuit television systems ”in new trains with cameras all around. Intelligent trains, including intercom, air conditioning, automatic door, announcement and visual broadcast system, feature electronic passenger information boards in front of each of the three wagons.
