Stating that the nostalgia tram is getting old, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Akaydın said, "We are planning to remove it and buy narrower buses that run hybrid on the same route."
Mayor Akaydın met with the Antalya Medical Chamber Student Community, formed by students of Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, for breakfast. Expressing that he enjoyed being a doctor and a faculty member, Akaydın said that he was also proud to serve Antalya as the mayor.
Akaydın stated that they planned to remove the nostalgic tram in the city,
“Nostalgia tram is old. "We are thinking of removing it and buying narrower buses that run hybrid on the same route."
Akaydın stated that they will extend the old tram line where narrow buses are planned to be used, and that the new line will also include Antalya Education and Research Hospital, Akdeniz University, Antalya Courthouse and Antalya Intercity Terminal. Akaydın stated that the subject of making the overpass on Hürriyet Street north of the medical school with an elevator was included in the investment program.
When a student stated that they had problems in housing,
“I am the first mayor to provide accommodation for students in the Metropolitan Municipality. “There are 100 students staying in the current youth social facilities of the municipality”.
Stating that they started the construction of a 300-bed Youth Culture and Social Facility in Gülveren District, Akaydın noted that this facility will also contribute to the solution of the accommodation problem of university students.
Telling the foundation story of Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine to the students, Akaydın said, “If I were born again, I would like to be a medical doctor”.
