Siemens expands light rail production in Vienna

Siemens announced that it plans to invest around € 50m to increase the capacity of its light rail production facilities at its Simmering factory in Vienna. In Simmering facilities, within the Infrastructure & Rail Systems Division, there is the center of the Metro, Coaches and Light Rail business unit.

The MCL business unit has three major projects currently underway. In addition, within the scope of the contract made in 2010 for € 275m, 35 inspiro Trainsets are provided to the Warszawa Metro. In November 2011, Siemens signed a contract for the supply of Den Haag HTM 40 Avenio low-floor trams for € 115m.
