The projects prepared on the Sculpture-Garage tram line, which is the first long line in the city center tram lines in Bursa, were sent to the General Directorate of Railways, Ports and Airports Construction (DLH) for approval. Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which aims to be put out to tender in April after the approval, announced that the construction will be completed at the beginning of 2013.
After the opening of Bursaray Görgülü and Emek lines to transportation, it is aimed to knit the main streets in Bursa, where the works continue on the Kestel Line, which is the main route. The completed project of the 6-kilometer T1 line, which will reach the Central Garage again from the Central Garage, Darmstadt, Stadium, Altıparmak, Atatürk, İnönü and Uluyol streets, was sent to the DLH General Directorate for approval. Completing the necessary infrastructure preparations in order not to waste time, the Metropolitan Municipality will put out the tender in April after the approval and start the construction immediately.
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Recep Altepe said that they have completed the project process they have been carrying out meticulously and that they only expect approval from DLH to start work. Mayor Altepe, who stated that they wanted to finish the works by the end of the year and made the tender in April, said: “We want to start the construction from the İnönüzü Caddesi section of Ulu Caddesi and complete the line quickly. According to our plan, 13 stops and even 12 vehicles will work. With our modern vehicles with a total capacity of 280 people, the traffic load in the center will decrease significantly. Approximately 100 taxi passengers transported will take the 1 tram. Thus, the city center will be free from vehicle density, noise and exhaust gas pollution. The facade arrangement works that we have realized on Atatürk Street will be carried out in all the streets on the route. In this way, the city center will have a more contemporary appearance both in terms of transportation and visually. ” he spoke.
