Adana Metro Will Be Made Suitable For The Disabled

Carried out jointly by Adana Metropolitan Municipality and City Council Disabled Assembly; It has been reported that the 'Barrier-Free City Adana' activities are continuing.

It was noted that with the works to be carried out by the Adana Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation, it will make 13 separate metro stations located throughout the city suitable for all disability groups. Speaking about the issue, Disabled Council President Gülşah Gülpınar said that they met with the technical staff of the Rail System Branch Directorate and reminded that they held their first meeting and that they started to identify the arrangements to be made for all stations.

Gülpınar noted that following the meeting with the Technical Team Manager of the Rail System Branch Directorate Bülent Gerçeker, Mechanical Engineer Kemal Sayan, Architect İlknur Arslan Çolak and Civil Engineer Gülsen Beşer, the first inspections were made at Ruhsağlığı and Kurttepe stations. Executed by the Metropolitan Municipality; Explaining that the works to make pavement, pedestrian crossings and roads unblocked are underway within the framework of the 'Smart Touch Project', Gülpınar thanked the Deputy Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Zihni Aldırmaz for her contribution and support.

Guler, who said that they are trying to support the works carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality, said that they are trying to play an active role in the project and implementation stages.

Reminding that the legal period of 7 years will expire on 07 July 2012, Gülpınar stated that disabled people have the right to file a compensation lawsuit for all buildings, both public and private, that have not been made suitable at the end of the period. Gülpınar emphasized that private institutions and workplaces such as banks, restaurants and shops should make their spaces suitable for the disabled as soon as possible. – Adana01news
