Alternative Routes to the Trabzon-Erzincan Railway Project

Karadeniz Technical University (Ktü) Faculty of Engineering and Architecture Civil Engineering Department of Transportation Dr. Fazıl Çelik said that Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Trabzon and Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Tirebolu railway line projects, which were built by a special company by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, were registered as not being made by the ministry.

Professor Dr. Fazıl Çelik said that it is necessary to focus on alternative routes that Ktü has been working on since the last 4 years. Professor Dr. Çelik said, “The feasibility studies of these routes need to be completed. Among the many alternative routes that Ktü runs, two stand out. Both of them start from the Erbaş Station in the east of Erzincan and pass through the wide Bayburt plains and reach the districts of Trabzon, Arsin and Of. The cost of each is at most 1.5 billion dollars. Connections can be provided from Arsin or Of to the ports of interest. ”
