The repercussions of the absence of an offer for the Northern Marmara Motorway Project, which also includes the 3rd bridge tender planned in the Bosphorus, continue. The Ministry of Transport, which is evaluating the current stage, has taken a new step. For this reason, the Minister said that they will be put out to tender again in a short time, since the loan financing guarantee in the build-operate-transfer model takes a long time, they plan to go directly to the tender with equity. Making a statement on TV8, Minister Yıldırım said, “We are going to revise the project. We will do it step by step. The project is still working. The bridge plus a main axis of 65-70 kilometers will be included in the first tender and the next continuation of the highway will be made later. There is already a work we do. We will complete the project in that way by making a change in that work. ” he spoke. The project was tendered for the first time on March 9, 2011. Although the date of receiving the first offer was 23 August, it was postponed to 22 November and then to 10 January 2012. Yıldırım reminded that some companies wanted 3 months and 6 months on this date and said, “What preparation will those who cannot prepare for a project in 10 months do in 3 months? We did not find this very reasonable and we decided not to extend it. We did not extend the time, the offer was not released. We were more likely to receive offers. But we also had preparations for no offers. We launched that new plan. So we will do the project from the general budget. ” said. Explaining that the construction work will start this year, the Minister stated that there will be intensive spending in 2013 and 2014. “A single Turkish company will not be sufficient in terms of the volume of the project. They will form a group. Maybe it may not be enough when you create a group. Maybe they should take a foreign company as a solution partner for the bridge. ” he spoke. Yıldırım said that they are currently doing an alternative work, maybe they can bring the loan of the bidder to the project, they will make a comparison.
Minister Yıldırım stated that the tender will be announced later and offers will be received and they will start the construction accordingly. Stating that the project will create a transit route connecting Europe to the Caucasus, the Middle East and the Far East, Yıldırım said that the project will partially contribute to Istanbul city traffic, but they will not give much exit to the center of Istanbul.
