The final concession agreement for the construction and operation of the Baghdad railway was signed between the Ottoman state and Anadolu Railway company. Its duration was 99 years. Route; Konya - Karaman - Ereğli - Adana - Hamidiye - Kilis- Tel Habeş - Nüsaybin - Mosul - Tekrik - Samarra - Baghdad - Karbala - Basra via Najaf. With a total length of 2467 km, a large number of branches would be installed on the lines. In addition, the company was granted the right to build ports in Baghdad, Basra and Iskenderun gulfs and to operate ships between Sirkeci - Haydarpaşa.
