Ankaray Light Rail Transport System

Ankaray Light Rail Transport System has been implemented as a contemporary solution to the transportation problem of the capital Ankara, which is growing in terms of geographical and population.

The contract for the project, which is the first of these types of public transportation systems in Ankara, was signed in 1991 by the partnership including Yüksel Construction and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality EGO General Directorate. The construction works of the double track rail system, 8,527 m, built between Dikimevi and Söğütözü, are undertaken by Yüksel and Bayındır. While the electromechanical works of this project are completed by Siemens, Breda, AEG and Simko, Consortium partners in this project. The project includes 1,755 m drilling tunnel; 4,917 m open-shut tunnel and 217 m level, 412 m under the ground, 1,226 m long 11 stations were made. This public transportation system reaches the capacity of carrying 11 passengers per day by providing 18 hour service with 350,000 train.
