Idle Ferry Used for Transportation in Lake Van Becomes a Floating Hotel

A 3-storey hotel will be built on a ship in Lake Van with the support of the Eastern Anatolia Development Agency (DAKA), which carries out its activities under the coordination of the General Directorate of Development Agencies. Internship opportunities will be provided to students studying in the field of maritime and hotel management.

7 APPROVAL TO THE PROJECT

4 projects submitted by DAKA on behalf of 7 provinces were found successful and approved by the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Among the projects, there is the “Tourism Focused Employment Project in Edremit: Floating Hotel” project of Edremit Municipality in Van, which will incorporate the elements of tourism, employment and vocational training.

TO BE BUILT ON THE SHIP

In the project, which will provide support of 2 million lira, a 3-storey hotel will be built on the ship. Internship opportunities will be provided to students studying in the field of maritime and hotel management. 'Floating Hotel' will also serve tourists coming to the region.

UNIQUE EXPERIENCE

Within the scope of the project, a ferryboat that was previously used for transportation in Lake Van and is currently idle will be used. The ferry to be restored will provide accommodation with a unique concept. The floating hotel will organize trips to the bays of Lake Van and Akdamar Island within the framework of a certain calendar, and a unique experience will be offered to the guests in the Van Lake Basin.
