First Light Appears in Narlıdere Metro

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is continuing the construction of Narlıdere Metro, which it laid its foundation in last June. Another important step has been left behind in the excavations that continue at 6 points. Two separate tunnels between Fahrettin Altay and Balçova Ata Caddesi Intersection were combined with a “mini ceremony” attended by Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu. In total, the 570 meter long tunnel excavation was completed.

Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu landed on the construction site of the F. Altay-Narlıdere subway, which was tendered for 1 billion 27 million TL, and witnessed the merger of two separate tunnels. Within the scope of the works that continue 30 meters below the ground, the destruction of the last wall between two tunnels of 210 meters in total was realized with the participation of President Kocaoğlu. After the unification of the tunnels, President Kocaoğlu thanked all the employees and expressed their wishes for the construction to continue at the same pace and without any trouble and trouble. Receiving information about the general condition of the project, Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu said that the work continues on 6 separate shafts, and the total length of the tunnel opened has reached 570 meters.

IZMIR'S LIFE QUALITY WILL INCREASE
Expressing that the construction of the rail system involves great difficulties in historical cities such as İzmir, Büyükşehir Mayor Kocaoğlu said, “As long as the rail systems increase and develop, the quality of life of İzmir will increase. Our rail system line, which we have taken over as 11 km, has reached 179 km today. 52 km Aliağa-Bergama, 13,5 km Buca and Bornova Central lines will be added to this. As İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, we will continue on our way in line with the needs of the city, under the guidance of reason and science, with environmental and infrastructure works. ”

EXCAVATION STARTED AT 6 STATION
At the end of the construction process planned for 42 months, Narlıdere metro line will consist of 7 stations: Balçova, Çağdaş, Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), Narlıdere, Siteler and District Governorship. Excavations started at 7 of these 6 stations.
