Ertms World Conference Starts Tomorrow in Istanbul

Ertms World Conference Begins in Istanbul Tomorrow: The International Conference of the International Railways (UIC), the 11th European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS) World Conference, will begin tomorrow at the Istanbul Haliç Congress Center with the participation of Lütfi Elvan, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications.

Republic of Turkey from the Railways (TCDD), according to a written statement, hosted by UIC Director General Jean-Pierre Loubinoux and TCDD General Director Süleyman Karaman do that conference, the European Railway Agency (ERA) General Manager Marcel Verslyp, the European Railway Industrialists Association ( Philippe Citroen, Managing Director of UNIFE), Libor Lochman, Managing Director of the European Association of Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER), Luc Lallemand, Vice President of the Association of European Infrastructure Managers (EIM), Managing Director of Railway Regulation, GSMR Industry Group Erol Çıtak and 38 countries' railway administrations are expected to participate.

The biennial UIC ERTMS World Conference was held in Bern / Switzerland in 2007, in Malaga / Spain in 2009, and the 10th conference was held in Stockholm / Sweden in April 2012. 11 participants from all over the world are expected to the conference, which will be held at the 800th Istanbul Haliç Congress Center upon the proposal of UIC. The conference will provide information on the latest developments in the world regarding ERTMS.

Various sessions will be held at 2-3 April 2014 within the scope of the UIC ERTMS World Conference, where Turkish and European experience on ERTMS will be shared.

The ERTMS consists of three components, an important traffic management system supported by the European Union to ensure interoperability in border crossings and the development of a single standard train control and control system throughout Europe. These components include the European Train Control System (ETCS), which aims to provide the standard of train control in the road and in the cabin, and the GSM mobile communication standard for railway operation, GSM-R, which consists of an operating system aiming to optimize the train movements with train motion data.
